Iakovos is an aspiring Interventional Radiologist who has founded the IR cluster of eSMSC in 2018. Through the formal implementation of his tetra-core simulation course, the IR Cluster is one of the first to embrace CIRSE’s latest recommendations in an attempt to address current gaps in

undergraduate IR education.

 

ATHANASIOS DIAMANTOPOULOS

IR Faculty Lead 

St Thomas' Hospital

Dr Diamantopoulos qualified in 2004 from the medical school of University of Patras. He is now a consultant and clinical Lead of IR at St Thomas hospital. His clinical experience includes all aspects of interventional radiology and has been a keen proponent of improving undergraduate IR education. He leads the IR faculty team at esmsc since 2019.

 

GREGORY

MAKRIS

Modules supervisor  

St Thomas' Hospital

Gregory graduated from the medical school of Athens and then moved to the UK to do a Ph.D in vascular surgery and imaging at Imperial College of London. He is now a consultant IR at St Thomas hospital. He joined our team in 2020 to optimise module design and delivery.
